WV House of Delegates

Republican Candidate for West Virginia House of Delegates, District 97

Welcome to my page.  I’m excited to be your candidate for West Virginia’s 97th district!  I am a lifelong West Virginian, retired educator, and committed conservative Republican.  The 97th District straddles portions of Berkeley and Jefferson Counties.  I hope to earn your support in the May 14, 2024 Republican primary.

In 2009, I was disappointed in the results of the 2008 election.  Even though I had been a Republican for over 30 years in a Democrat controlled state I felt it was time get involved, that night I attended my first Gateway Republican Women meeting.

Republican Primary Election is May 14
Early voting is May 1-11

Join Me in The Fight for a Better Future.

I’ve been an active volunteer and leader for many Republican and conservative organizations here in the Eastern Panhandle.

I am proud of the accomplishments the Republican Majority has achieved over the past decade in our state.  It’s the grassroots efforts like I’ve been involved with that have helped support these successes:

  • Creating the car tax rebate that has essentially eliminated the state’s annual tax on our cars
  • Passing the largest income tax cut in the state’s history
  • Passing one of strictest abortion laws in the country
  • Education choice that allows families to make the best choices that meets their children’s needs
  • Protecting our 2nd amendment rights
  • Delivering a Republican majority to help make all of these important reforms happen

I’m ready to take the energy and passion I’ve had to support these important reforms here at home and continue to build on the success and future of our state as your Delegate in Charleston.

My Stands

Giving The Best Effort of Services for The Better Community

For most of my life I have given my best to ensure the community thrives and continues to grow. This has been my goal ever since I became an educator over 30 years ago.

Education

I am a retired teacher and nothing is more important to me than ensuring the future of our community's children. The money should follow the child to best fit their educational needs – not force them into a one size fits all approach that traditional public education has become in our state.

Pro Small Business

Small Businesses run the local economy. It is my job and my goal to continue working towards initiatives that better the economy for those small businesses.

Election Integrity

Even before the 2020 Election I have been concerned about election Integrity. As a member of the Berkeley County Republican Executive Committee, since 2011 I have recruited experienced and knowledgeable poll workers to ensure the integrity of our election process.

Lower Taxes

Lower taxes can stimulate economic growth by putting more money in the hands of individuals and businesses, encouraging spending, investment, and job creation. Berkeley County was the only state to pass Constitutional Amendment 2 to eliminate the car tax from our state’s constitution. While the measure didn’t pass statewide, I take pride in the power of our grassroots effort that ultimately led to the legislature’s elimination of the car tax.

Why Choose Me

Since I retired in 2010, we have served through our Church, DAR, SAR, WVFL and the Republican Party in Berkeley County and WVGOP.

  • Ready To Serve
  • Committed To Education
  • Stop Federal Overreach
  • I Need Your Help

I was fortunate to be born into a Christian family.  Where service to the community and country was not only encouraged but demonstrated by example.  As a result the 5 children ended up in fields of service: Minister, Career Air Force, Social Worker, Parks and Recreation as well as myself Speech Pathology and Educational Audiologist.

When I started in West Virginia Schools in 1976 Federal IDEA law was rolled out.  It was the beginning of documentation of the law instead of educating the children.  I was able to gain assurance that I made a difference in children’s lives.  The longer I worked the more I had to deal with issues that had nothing to do with my job or career choice. Parents are their children’s first teacher. I celebrate School Choice, Charter Schools and Homeschooling.  But in areas that they are not available we have a lot to accomplish without Progressive Agenda.
Post Education needs to reflect the needs of a Workforce needed for Today’s Jobs.

Until I moved to the Eastern Panhandle did I realize the Federal government was infringing on everyday life. Even with the overturn of Roe vs Wade we had to stand strong to ban abortion with few exceptions against Biden’s Administration’s goal of codifying abortion.  Our proud Heritage of Patriotism and Gun Ownership is threatened yet West Virginia serves as a model for Constitutional Carry.

First, I need your prayers for discernment and staying true to the truth. I thank Family and Friends who have prayed for me all along the process. I need your volunteer support. I need places to put my yard signs. I need your vote.

What Became Our Concern

Economy

In West Virginia we have to build a business environment that will provide a tax base that provides jobs, education funding and less dependence on federal funding.

Education

I am delighted with our School Choice legislation, Charter Schools and Hope Scholarships.  Until every student has reliable internet access and availability of the school of their choice, West Virginia Public Schools have to raise the bar.  I have worked in 5 counties and Charleston RESA.  I went from a county that had 50-60 teachers on the RIF list to Jefferson County hiring 100 new teachers a year.

Protection From Overreach

We need to protect our state from Federal overreach through the EPA, threatening gun ownership and codifying Abortion. In 2018, Constitutional Amendment #1 was passed that declared that Abortion was not a right and was not to paid by Medicaid for all women.

Pro Life

Even before Roe vs Wade was overturned I have been part of the Pro Life Movement.
I was asked to help with the reorganization of Berkeley County Chapter of West
Virginians for Life in 2016.  I have served as Vice President, President and currently Treasurer. In the 2018 General Election we worked hard to pass the Constitution Amendment that Abortion was no longer a right in West Virginia.
Our goal is to educate and encourage awareness of the pre born as well as end of life issues.  The Support for Mothers and Babies Act provides support for Pregnancy Centers around the state.
I support Women’s Right to Know Act

Election Integrity

Even before the 2020 Election I have been concerned about election Integrity.
As a member of the Berkeley County Republican Executive Committee, since 2011 I have recruited experienced and knowledgeable poll workers.  In 2022, following the pandemic we had a major drive to replace our veteran poll workers who were concerned about COVID exposure. I want to express my gratitude to County Clerks of Jefferson County Jackie Shadle and Berkeley County Anthony Petrucci for providing training for new voting machines.
